Advent and Christmas 2020
Advent Calendar and Candle Lighting
Join us for a season of comfort and challenge as we get ready for Christmas. Singing the songs of the season to carry us through dark times. Seeking the Light for our own lives and for our world. Studying the scriptures that form our hope. Sharing the Light of the world with those who need it most. Continue with us on Christmas and the first Sunday of Christmas to sing Victory Songs for our Light has come! Darkness has not overcome the Light!
This year, while we don’t know yet if we will be able to be in church for Christmas, we can be the church wherever we are and bring advent into our hearts and homes. To aid in this we have provided a daily advent calendar to help us grow in our 5 core discipleship practices each day of advent. There is a liturgy for you to light advent candles (any candles will do) at home to honor that defiant tradition of bringing light into darkness. If you’d like to make a Christmas offering to support global missions, you can do so on our donate page.
We are also helping provide gifts to those in our community. The need to help provide Christmas presents for those in our community is greater this year. Please visit our Giving Tree page for more information and to see the link to the gifts needed.
Our Christmas Eve Services will be at 7pm on December 24th online and on WRHL and we will also have Christmas Day Service at 9am on December 25th also online and WRHL. If we resume in-person ministry by Christmas we will let you know about those plans as well, though the recent dramatic rise in Coronavirus cases is making gathering in-person seem less likely.
Ready to get in the holiday spirit? Checkout the Hub Cluster Christmas Carol Cruise. From Dec 4-6 you can drive by each of the Hub City area churches to sing along and learn the history of 10 different Christmas Carols. View the HUB Cluster website for more information.
The songs and stories can be viewed on the HUB Cluster You Tube page.
