Holy Week and Easter 2023
Entering the Passion of Jesus: Picturing Ourself in the Story
Palm Sunday, April 2 at 9:00 am. Lent, week 6 in our series: Entering the Passion of Jesus. This special service includes the traditional entry with palms, a drama, and communion.
Maundy Thursday, April 6 at 7:00 pm. Offered by the HUB cluster at Rochelle UMC, this service contains music and poetry reflections on Water, Bread, and Silver. It includes a time of ritual washing of our hands, communion, and an offering for missions. The service will be about an hour long.
Good Friday Stations of the Cross Walk and Reflection from Noon-3:00 pm. The Stations of the Cross is an ancient meditative pilgrimage inviting us to walk the “Way of Sorrows” with Jesus to his death on Calvary hill. This is a self-guided experience to take at your own pace. You are invited to walk along the road with Jesus, who stepped into the human experience, including betrayal, injustice, mockery, judgment and pain. Walk the journey with the one who chose the path of Love, from which not even death can separate us. The graphic art visuals for
the Stations are by Lauren Wright Pittman. Pastor Katherine will be on site, available to speak with anyone who wishes to do so.
Good Friday, April 7 at 7:00 pm. Our Good Friday service this year will focus on the three prophecies of Jesus impending death in the Gospel of Mark, and the reactions and responses of the disciples. We will also hear the story of Good Friday, and have an opportunity to put ourselves in the scene as we nail our sins to a cross and close with reflection and prayer.
Easter Sunday Worship, April 9 at 9:00 am. Come and celebrate new life with us! This joyful worship experience will be full of music, beauty, and love as we celebrate the good news of life in Jesus!
